Come the Storm

Eileen Rose was born in the tough Boston suburb of Saugus, and brought up the youngest of five sisters and three brothers by her close-knit Italian-Irish American family. Eileen studied criminal law but disappointed her mom and dad by running away to England to become a rock star. The resulting records and electrifying live shows have won her a dedicated following of both fans and critics. No-one sings about regret and precious time lost like Eileen Rose.

But after countless sweaty gigs and two critically-acclaimed UK albums on Rough Trade, Eileen felt compelled to move home. 9/11 proved an event that “put things in perspective for me,” she says. “My parents weren't getting any younger and I felt like I needed to be spending time with them. I just felt I needed to be home.”

Following a slow transition back to American life (a process she describes as “getting into the water slowly”), Rose set to writing Come The Storm over a long, cold winter on Martha's Vineyard. “I ended up feeling like Jack Nicholson in The Shining. I think I went a little crazy.” The songs on Storm reflect the intensity of the experience, carrying themes of leaving home, coming back home, the state of the nation, love, regret, and maybe redemption. The record was recorded at the famous Long View Farm studios in Massachusetts (Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder)
