Imperious Delirium
Imperious Delirium, the new record from Brisbane Australia's punk pioneers the Saints, features 11 new songs recorded at Amsterdam's Stollywood studios.
The making of Imperious Delirium was not without incident: midway through a world tour, the band lost their guitarist. Far from being a hindrance the band quickly discovered it was a blessing, allowing the power trio to get to the heart of their songs.
Front man Chris Bailey elaborates, “The intention of Imperious Delirium was to capture the raw power of The Saints as a reinvigorated three-piece live band."
"We spent three weeks in a basement locked inside a Saints world bubble and emerged with forty-odd minutes of music made entirely by the three of us"
The Saints are: Chris Bailey, Singer & only guitarist on the album; Caspar Wijnberg on Bass and Pete Wilkinson on drums.
Already a critical success in the UK where it was released in October 2006, Imperious Delirium received unanimous support from the hard to please British press. Some excerpts:
“The Saints are now a 3 piece band….and this version, with a peerless back-catalogue and a great new album, is in rude health.” The Independent
“Imperious Delirium …finely crafted, deceptively melodic…” Sunday Times
“This album retains that unique Saints groove and sound….stripped down and raw The Saints legacy remains intact.” Big Cheese
“(Imperious Delirium) is an album rivaling their late 70's heyday” MOJO
